Spedition Jan Bode

On January 5th of this year I moved from Lüneburg to Winsen (Luhe) with the shipping company Jan Bode from Röntgenstraße 27-29 · 21465 Reinbek. As a precaution, I had the high-quality items of my furniture transported by the furniture store supplier at the time. This also has been good. During the move, an employee of the furniture shipping company improperly moved my very expensive OCCHIO arc lamp. The lamp arch broke out of the base. We duly noted the damage in the prescribed damage and acceptance report and also spoke to the responsible shipping company dispatcher about the damage at the end of the move on the same day. About 2 weeks later I received the repair costs for the lamp in the amount of €1,600.00 (purchase value at the time was €4,500.00). The Bode shipping company then refused to settle the damage because a contractual clause requires the damage to be reported again in writing within 14 days, even though it had already been reported in writing and by telephone on the day of the move. I consider this clause to be unjustified. Its direct aim is to avoid having to acknowledge any damage reported on the day of the move. The damage I reported was rejected dryly and rudely by the claims handler. I am currently having this clause checked by a lawyer. I strongly advise against hiring this company and especially reading the fine print carefully.
